Olive Mania

A whippoorwill sings softly in the distance as a warm Tuscan breeze blows up the hillside from the olive grove beneath the window of the villa where I am spending the summer abroad. The leaves on the olive trees shimmer brilliantly in the afternoon sun. Olives have been grown for thousands of years in Spain, Italy, and Sicily, producing thousands of bushels of olives and gallons of olive oil every year to meet the increasing worldwide demand for this kitchen staple. Michael Sheridan’s design collection, titled “Olive Mania,” celebrates this resilient, oily fruit in a series of elegant designs that speak to the foodie in us all.
